Valentine Pretzel Bites

Hi there!

I love getting in the kitchen with my kids to make yummy holiday treats.  The goodies we make are great, but the memories we're making are even sweeter.

With the sweet and salty combination these Valentine pretzel bites are super tasty and a snap to make.  Honestly, the most time consuming part of this whole recipe is unwrapping the Rolos!  When my kids were little I'd take advantage of their competitive streaks and challenge them to see who could unwrap the most in the fastest time.  Side note: Do you know that unwrapping small objects (like Rolos) is great for a kiddos fine motor skill development?

This is a great little recipe to have up your sleeve because it's fast, requires just a few ingredients, and can be cute for any holiday by changing the color of the M&Ms.

Valentine Pretzel Bites

Ingredients:

  • Pretzels - 1 bag I used the square "snap" shape
  • Rolos - 1 bag
  • M&Ms - 1 bag I used the Valentine M&Ms for their festive colors

Directions:

  • Heat oven to 250 degrees.
  • Unwrap the Rolos.
  • Place the pretzels in a single layer on a cookie sheet.  Tip:  If you're worried about the pretzels sliding off, use a cake pan or other rimmed pan instead of a cookie sheet.
  • Place 1 Rolo on each pretzel.
  • Bake for 3-5 minutes.  The Rolo should be shiny and soft but not completely melted.  You need it just soft enough to push the M&M on to it.
  • Remove from the oven and press 1 M&M onto each Rolo.
  • Optional:  If you want to jazz them up a little more, add mini sprinkles and/or drizzle with white chocolate or candy melts.
  • Let sit until firm.  I usually pop them into the refrigerator for a bit to firm them up.
  • Enjoy!
